Places to Snorkel in Bali

If you want to enjoy both the beach and some snorkeling, locations like Sanur Beach are perfect for your travel plans. It’s usually really easy to head to these popular beach locations and rent some snorkel gear and just head out to have adventures. Later, you can come back and lounge on the beach and possibly order from the beach bar, which is likely to be convenient for nearly any place you choose to lay out.

1. Blue Lagoon Bali

Blue Lagoon Snorkeling can get you set up to enjoy this beautiful location where you might see everything from turtles to coral to fish. You can have a guide take you out in the morning when the water is calm and make the most of the incredible visibility that is rarely clouded by sand or other impediments. The sea can get a little rougher in the afternoon here, so you might want to head up onto the beach to work on your tan later in the day.

2. Virgin Beach

Virgin Beach is one of the newer beaches that has been cleaned and opened up for visitors to enjoy. You can count on renting umbrellas and chairs here, and there are food and drink stalls lining the beach as well.

This is a place where the water is shallow for a long distance away from the beach itself, which means that even little swimmers can have fun playing here. You can usually spot turtles here, and there are tropical fish and some coral further away from the beach.

3. Amed Beaches

There are various snorkeling beaches in the Amed region, and this is one of the best places to head to see a wide array of different kinds of sea life. There are also small shipwrecks and some other really cool coral reef locations that dot the coast here. A submarine post office is another of the unique offerings that you can spot when snorkeling in this area.

Places to Dive in Bali

If you love to scuba dive, there are few places that are as ideal for this activity as Bali. Bali offers crystal clear water that is warm and lots of very cool stuff to see when you have your scuba diving certification. Plus, if you’re not already certified, there are tons of local companies that can help you with that.

1. Menjangan Island

This is one of the most popular places to head out to do reef-focused scuba diving. You will need to work with a tour company to take advantage of this travel opportunity, but it is easy to book a boat and a guide and head out to see the amazing sights near this island. There is a 98-foot vertical wall here that is absolutely covered in coral and teeming with sea life. You will see angelfish, parrotfish, and things like groupers all over this area.

2. Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is right off the coast, and this little island is an ideal place to head for scuba diving. The current can be strong here, so only experienced divers should consider this location for their scuba diving experience. There are tour companies that will guide you to the best places to dive, and there are shipwrecks as well as the opportunity to swim with dolphins that tours can give you access to. The visibility is great here, and clownfish, nudibranchs, and mola mola are all waiting for you below the surface.

3. Tulamben

Divers often head here just to see the wreck of the USAT Liberty. This ship sank during a volcanic event in 1963 on the island. You will be able to access this wreck by diving just 30 feet down, and there is an entire world of sea life that has moved into the ship now that it has come to rest on the ocean floor. Soft corals and nudibranchs are plentiful, and you can also see frogfish and pygmy seahorses. This is one of the easiest wreck dives in the world and a must-see if you love scuba diving.
